Chris Light is an Executive, Serial Entrepreneur, Technologist, Innovator, Web3, and Blockchain enthusiast with 25+ years of experience. He is a co-founder at E-Livestock Global, a Blockchain powered, award-winning, and globally acknowledged solution. Launched worldwide from Zimbabwe, E-Livestock Global, is a healthy livestock traceability social enterprise, focused on digital and financial inclusion for smallholder farmers. Officially launched in 2021, it has received global press coverage including The Economist and televised. Further, it won Best Blockchain Solution in Africa (Digital Banker Africa) that same year.Chris Light is well known in the Technology, Entrepreneurial, Blockchain, and Global Development communities. He has undertaken Technology activities worldwide, including as an Information Technology Advisor for the U.S. Presidential Initiative to End Hunger in Africa.
His work has been recognized at White House and Embassy level for the Department of State, together with Administrator level for USAID. He served three years as a co-chair for ICT4D/Digital Development for the Society for International Development-United States including serving twice as an Innovation Judge for their Annual Conference.His work with Blockchain, Supply, and Value Chains has been featured by both MIT and the LSE. He won the Innovation Award at the 2022 SID-US Annual conference for the E-Livestock Traceability solution. He also put Zimbabwe at the top of the search results for Livestock and Blockchain. Chris Light has a master’s degree from Boston University and has a double Major/double Degree from the University of Maryland. He was graduation student speaker at the former and commencement marshal at the latter. E-Livestock Global was a graduate of the inaugural cohort of the Blockchain Accelerator at the Smith School of Business (University of Maryland.) He has completed Blockchain certificate course work at both MIT and UC Berkeley.
