Alfonso Govela

Alfonso Govela, MIT & UIA, is passionate about Architecture, Cities, and the Digital World. MIT M.Arch.A.S. in Applied Computer Science. He is an Architect and Urbanist from Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City. He is a Member of the National Academy of Architecture in Mexico, Colleges of Architects of Mexico and Madrid, Spain. Assistant Director of Urban Planning for Mexico City in charge of its first GIS and collaborator for the Urban Development Plan for the Federal District (1980, 1982). Advisor to the Secretary of Urban Development and the Environment at the Federal Government of Mexico for housing reconstruction after the quakes of 1985. Professor of Architecture at the School of Architecture at the National University of Mexico. Principal of Alfonso Govela Arquitectos.

He has been a Metropolis Consultant on Urban Innovation and Blockchain (bit.ly/3fULUer). He has been a UN-Habitat Consultant in charge of DigitalCivix, a global initiative to advance civic literacy and digitally empower citizenship. In 2016, his team at Taller Construye tu Ciudad won a Guinness World Record for the Largest Building Tournament on a sandbox videogame with 6,000 children and teenagers from 16 Mexican Cities designing a public space for Mexicali, Baja California. Linux Foundation Mentor and Founding Member of Hyperledger Latinoamerica Regional Chapter at Hyperledger Foundation. In the past seven years, he has worked extensively in advocacy, capacity training, and entrepreneurship support for Blockchain and DLT applications. He leads Learning Tokens, a joint project of Hyperledger and GBBC.
