Deariza is a passionately dedicated technology and policy professional deeply committed to advancing digital law and technological innovation. He currently serves as a Digital Services and Cybersecurity Supervisor at the Indonesia Financial Services Authority (OJK), where he oversees Financial Sector Technology Innovation (FSTI) providers and digital financial assets, including crypto assets. His responsibilities include ensuring compliance with cybersecurity and regulatory frameworks, evaluating business models in regulatory sandbox panels, and leading the development of cybersecurity guidelines that serve as critical resources for Indonesia’s financial sector.
Starting his career at a leading law firm, Deariza advised on mergers and acquisitions, financial technology, and banking transactions. He then enhanced digital transformation efforts at one of Indonesia’s state-owned banks before contributing to TikTok’s expansion in Indonesia.
Academically, Deariza holds a Master of Laws degree from the University of Melbourne, specializing in digital law and technological innovation. His research, funded by the Indonesia Endowment Funds for Education (LPDP), explored harmonizing innovation and privacy in blockchain technology within the framework of the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation and Indonesian data protection frameworks. He also earned a Bachelor of Law degree from Universitas Gadjah Mada.
Recognized for his contributions to legal technology, Deariza was honoured with the King & Wood Mallesons Award and the People’s Choice Award for his innovative legal chat robot designs in Melbourne. Additionally, as a certified Australian Mental Health First Aider, he is committed to fostering mental health awareness while promoting forward-thinking regulatory strategies that enhance technological resilience and safeguard digital assets.
