Edmund Yong

Edmund Yong is the managing partner of Celebrus Advisory based in Kuala Lumpur, a bespoke referral-only consultancy for companies exploring digital assets and tokenization. He has formerly held several senior management roles, including as Asia Pacific director for a blockchain-powered big data company on the Fortune Global 500, and general manager of a dominant credit reporting bureau in Southeast Asia. Prior to this, he cut his teeth in retail finance for over a decade, where he led unsecured lending for a sovereign fund-owned bank as senior vice president.

He currently lends his expertise to the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation, a government agency tasked to catalyze digital transformation for the country; and serves as independent director for the Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) Association of Malaysia, a committee member of the National AI Office, the central authority to champion the country’s AI agenda. Over the past few years, he has designed and taught several public courses accredited by the Securities Industry Development Corporation, the training arm of the country’s capital markets regulator, covering a wide range of digital asset topics from compliance to taxation, forensics to geopolitics.

In his free time, Edmund writes for the tech column Shadow Crypt in Malaysia’s leading business publication The Edge, and previously contributed to the features desk of a Singapore-based crypto trade journal.
