Edwin Liava'a is a blockchain and transformation engineer bridging traditional Pacific infrastructure with Web3 innovation. As Interim CEO of Tonga Post and Chairman of Tonga Cable Ltd, he leads digital transformation initiatives while serving as Founder of Pasifika Web3 Tech Hub, a decentralized physical infrastructure network (DePIN) designed specifically for Pacific Island communities.
With over three decades of experience across Melanesia, Polynesia, and Micronesia, Edwin's career spans groundbreaking achievements from spearheading Tonga's first international fiber optic submarine cable system as former CEO of Tonga Cable Ltd (2018-2020) to expanding satellite broadband coverage as Regional Corporate Development Director for Kacific Broadband Satellites Group.
What distinguishes Edwin as a leader is his ability to operate effectively at both the policy level with government officials and ministers, and in the technical trenches as a Full Stack Developer. His current portfolio includes developing the MEIDECC Wide Dashboard for UNDP, leading GIS innovation for renewable energy projects in Micronesia with OCA GLOBAL, and serving on accreditation panels for Tonga's national education standards.
A Chainlink Developer Expert and mentor at Frankfurt School Blockchain Center, Edwin's work is guided by the Pacific principle: "If we take care of our own, they will take care of us." He creates solutions that preserve cultural heritage while opening digital opportunities, from decentralized governance models to blockchain-enabled infrastructure that empowers Pacific communities to participate actively in the global digital economy.
