Darryl Burton, is a veteran of public health leadership and healthcare system design. During 2012 he worked on the rollout and implementation of the Affordable Care Act better known as Obamacare which provided health insurance coverage for over 10M people. As a speaker, his focus was on explaining to policymakers, trade groups and business owners the different plans, costs, and rules under the ACA’s Small Business Health Option Program (SHOP). He currently work is at the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. He is an outspoken advocate of Blockchain as the technology capable of bringing true interoperability, stronger privacy protection, savings and choice to the healthcare system. He has held senior position in the San Francisco Department of Public Health and also as department head for San Francisco Mayors Willie Brown and Gavin Newson. He holds a MS in Healthcare Systems and MBA from the University of San Francisco. He is also an Army combat veteran and in 2007 was awarded the the Bronze Star.
