Head of Exploration, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) – Ghana

Ghana

Seth Akumani is Head of Exploration for UNDP Ghana’s Accelerator Lab. A former software entrepreneur and business executive, Seth has been combining business, technology, and customer insights to build and champion impactful solutions for Ghana over the past decade. 

At UNDP, he is responsible for scouting grassroots solutions, building partnerships, and shining light on emerging trends and innovative applications of disruptive technologies such as blockchain. Prior to his current role, Seth was Director of Business Development and Marketing at GenKey, a biometric technology company, where he was involved in delivering identification solutions for health insurance schemes, social protection programs, and other development projects. Before that, Seth co-founded and led ClaimSync, a health-tech start-up that developed digital health solutions for low-resource settings. GenKey Solutions acquired ClaimSync in 2013.  Seth has postgraduate education in economics and software entrepreneurship. He is currently a member of the expert panel for the Roche-backed FutureProofing Healthcare Sustainability Index for Africa. In acknowledgment of his entrepreneurial work and ongoing involvement in start-up mentoring, Seth has earned recognition from Forbes, CNBC Africa, and the Ghana Climate Innovation Centre.
