Visa Vallivaara (MSc. of Math) leads CryptoLab research team at VTT. He has 13 years’ experience in cyber security research and is an author of 13 scientific publications on cybersecurity, cryptography and blockchains.
He has won the best paper award both in ICISSP 2022 and in SECURWARE 2019. He was a guest researcher at NIST in USA for one year, 2019-2020. At NIST, Vallivaara was researching Post-Quantum Cryptography and participated in the PQC standardization. After returning to Finland, Vallivaara has been project manager of national research project PQC Finland 2021-2022 and is now coordinator of the continuation project BLimPQC 2025-2028. He is also Partner Country Project director of NATO SPS research project “Secure Communication via Classical and Quantum Technologies”, 2023-2026.
