GSMI 7.0 Examines Digital Payments in the Dutch Caribbean

Small Island Developing States (SIDS) face unique economic and development challenges, making sustainable and resilient economic growth a global priority. The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), International Monetary Fund (IMF), and Group of Twenty (G20) have all prioritized sustainable economic development across SIDS, which comprise 57 nations worldwide.
GBBC is pleased to present the first report of the Global Standards Mapping Initiative (GSMI) 7.0, Digital Payments and the Emerging Digital Economy in the Dutch Caribbean. The report provides a comprehensive gap analysis of digital payment solutions in the Dutch Caribbean compared with cash, examining their benefits, risks, and adoption.
The workstream was led by regional experts including Errol Cova, Global Financial Regulatory Expert; Myrienne Figaroa of SETAR; Morales O. Esajas-Remak and David B. Levy Maduro of the Curaçao Fintech Association; Ife Badejo of Islandpreneur; Darice Solognier of Business IQ; and Damien Schmidt of Princess Juliana International Airport.
GBBC CEO Sandra Ro will discuss the report at the 4th Annual CBCS Fintech Conference in Curaçao on October 30, providing an opportunity to explore the report's findings and their implications for the region's emerging digital economy.
The report was led by Diana Oreto (Barrero Zalles), Head of GSMI and Research, with support from GBBC team members Karen L. Ottoni, Riley Fay, Justin Legesse, Patrick Bruckwick, Sierra Lewis, and Tristen Dague.
